Checked out a bvr damage control request. Arrived on site and found two ponds. Very old dam with alders growing out of it but held water back. Further upstream another dam but original dam was a concrete spillway with the dirt berms where high water washed out breaks but were fixed with old bvr cuttings and mud. Some fresh clean twigs about the size of pencils. Not much at all below spillway. A well used crossover next to spillway though. Figure an old bach bvr or female by itself which ive come across through out the years of bvr trapping. Set up two bodygrips below dam and two above, two castor and two blind. Checked next day a friday, one small two yr old bvr. Well guess i got the culprit so just in case will leave traps over weekend as i had trappers ed to teach. Checked traps Monday and since it had rained hard couldnt drive close to bvr ponds so hoped empty traps ...right? Well never ASSUME, becuase i had three two year old bvrs and an otter.... Whoopee, now to carry the poplar munchers across wet fields. Where was Boggy when you need him.....probably copping a smoke behind a big pine chuckling .....! Turned the otter over to WI DNR for trappers education fund and onward home, couldnt find Boggy either for skinning or fleshing.....but if he was actually here , he would have had his hand out for the castors for sure... and the trappers saga continues on.............
