I have seen them but for me a scapel is fine and cheaper.

I use one. I use it primarily for deer hunting, although, from time to time I use it for some skinning. I really like like the knife. For example, last November I field dressed four deer without needing to change the blade - and it did a beautiful job.

Essentially they are just a interchangeable lock blade scalpel...scary sharp and certainly have their place... I've got one and keep several different blades on hand...great for precision cutting BUT they are not heavy duty hunting knives...
OH and did I say scary sharp?! Be careful with it else you'll need stiches...

Arnie Groehler gives a great rat demo at our WTA rondy each year and one at the NTA for us in 2010. Last year during his demo he talked about his experiences with the havalon knife and how it worked for him and his brother for skinning hundreds of coon and thousands of rats. While offering extra information on the side to about 30 plus individuals someone stole his knife!! Sure makes one want to just puke and we continuously criticize the rest of society for their shortcomings and irresponsible behavior.

Good knife in my opinion. Use it for big game as well as furbearers. Like any knife, does not handle bone well, so I use a beater knife for head work. But it is a great knife for what it is.

I have had one for a couple years it works great the only thing is that you have to let the blade do the work if you push down to hard the blades break easy, blades are cheap and you can sharpen them, great for skinning and capeing.

Might add, makes a heck of a knife for working around the business ends of skunks. No need to stick and pull, stick and pull. Just glides around the glands.

Very good knife for the trapline fur shed. Never could use a scalpel blade until I came across this one which is larger than the normal one. it is the #60 blade and you can also get a handle for it as well as the Havalon folder. A word of caution, use a pair of pliers for changing blades. Even a dull blade is sharp and it is easy to slip changing the blade.

Used one all season and already have another hundred blades for next season and i bought a second one. Have one at the skinning station and one at the put up table. Did cut myself pretty good three times.
