I know in the north were ice out is late that pretty much triggers the beaver dispersel. Down here especially this year with little ice I wonder if maybe the females kicking out the two year olds is more just determined by the length of days and in river type open water areas the dispersel is about the same time every year. The general date I'm not sure ,maybe March 15.What's everyones opinion?

I know our weather is totally different but my beaver catch always increases the last 2 weeks in Feb even when I have been running the same line for 2 weeks waiting on otter and in most cases its those 30 to 35 pound beaver that I catch.I know beavers have more bite marks now but around here if I had to 2 pick 2 weeks to beaver and otter trap it would be the last 2 weeks in February. The big male otter seem to appear out of nowhere.

The switch turns on March 16th here....because I/m still trapping coon until then.
I/m still seeing ice under the water on local rivers here in many places. Makes it difficult to pound stakes or set stands.
Always wondered why/when the exact dispersal came about. Don't know exactly.

I think it has more to do with water levels.
We are not going to see the big dispersal this spring IMHO with the low water levels we are going to have.
A guy is going to have to be on top of them more.
