Here is the amendment to the bill! 2011 - 2012 LEGISLATURE SENATE AMENDMENT 2, TO 2011 SENATE BILL 226 February 16, 2012 - Offered by Senator Risser. 1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows: 21. Page 1, line 11: after "event," insert "regulating body gripping traps,". 32. Page 7, line 4: after that line insert: 4" Section 7m. 29.331 (1m) of the statutes is created to read: 5 29.331 (1m) Body gripping traps. I'm told that this Is now a dead issue.
The Bill had already gone to a public hearing before Amendment 2 had been added. So It's unlikely It would be brought up for another public hearing. But we should remain vigilant.

My contacts will oppose as well. Information from the WWF and others stated that it would never get passed in the assembly so probably dead. Important to know though that it exists and can be brought back up at any time when the situation arises. They are now addressing sand hill cranes seasons which will take some time as well. Wolf bill will probably be modified many times before that gets a final look. DNR lost a big case with the farmer and the bear killing calves near Balsam Lake. One needs to pick battles carefully and this is not the way to gain credibility with the public. We may see more legislative issues that can come up very fast with very little time to organize. Some can even be done in closed caucus which is really scary. Bryce
