I have a few rats that are to long for wire stretchers. Any tips ? Would it be OK to trace the wire stretcher and make a few out of 1/4" plywood for the long ones?

those must be huge rats! I've never had one too long for a peerless stretcher.
rather than trace, the demensions of a wood rat stratcher for extra large is out there-
anyone?

I just put those occasional jumbo 'rats (near four pounds) on number 2 Peerless or Quick Dry wire stretchers. The pelt may be a little wide at the bottom, but still proportional for that size 'rat.

You can get the measurments for making boards on the NAFA or Fur Harvesters web page. I am not sure how to post a link so you will have to look it up.

I/ve put 4lb rats on Wire Duke stretchers and they fit. How big is it?

You could just cut them off at the bottom so they would fit!!! LOL
Seriously I had only one in my 31 years that I put on a central coon sized board.

Last spring when I was doing SD rats I ran out of rat stretchers and used a fair amount of my coon boards to get the job done. Worked like a charm.
