got a couple inches of snow, after a little rain, so its "crunchy" out-
temps in mid teens tomorrow, but wind dying down. Looking forward to checking the line - had a couple of good nights and a 50 degree day in this check, so should have a few coon, and I always like the extra movement with rats and mink-
coyotes were really starting to get back i my mind with the weather, but talking to my buyer he says what the hunters are bringing in, are pretty ruff- he says every once In a a while a dandy, but more rubbed and ruffed up than not- now this snow and freezing- glad I didn't succumb to temptation.
in any case, I still delight in going out after a fresh snow on a sunny day- now if I finally caught that slow leak in my waders.......
tried rks advice of blocking off small streams with colonies, adding dive stick- so maybe tomorrow a multiple, there are rats in this little spring creek, but shallow and hard to pinpoint- so we shall see.
have been oh so tempted to set out weasel boxes, but with no snow, I couldn't find sign and wondered if boxes are less effective on bare ground so haven't gotten around to it yet.
suppose to be 30 Sunday then cold, so might be a good time to get out and see what I can see
hows life in your neck of the woods?

No rain this time like New Year's Day. We have 3 inches on the ground with 3-5 more coming if the lake affect comes inland 10-15 miles. Blowing hard now about 20-25 with 30-40 mph tomorrow. We have a WTA BOD meeting 110 miles away Saturday so I hope the roads clean up. About 19 here right now.

no snow to speak of here but its supposed to get to 10 below tonight. If my memory is right it will be the second time this winter we have seen subzero temps.
I may even go fishin next week for the first time this winter.
I think the hight today was about 7 and 15 mph wind. Wasnt too bad out.

We're getting to the 2 foot mark. The dogs and I have 90 km. sledded so far this week Maybe 300 total for the season. Very little fur sign except for lynx, which is now closed, and a bit of wolf which aren't cooperating too much. They've dug up my old dirt holes but haven't reused their trails which are snare set.

Do you have an odometer on that sled? We just got the first real snow of the winter here.

Do you have an odometer on that sled? We just got the first real snow of the winter here. Jim GPS. But the trails I'm doing are on my line. There are actual km. markers every 5 k.! I spent about 5 hours snow blowing this morning to clear out the snow fall we had last night. Just got another 15 cm's this afternoon ....

Very little snow here...most fishermen are using quads. Lake Winnipeg is going good 40 fish days, most in the keeper slot limit... some are catching 29 inches every other day..walleye rats freezing out and wandering

Wolf snares are still in working order. The snow is fluff so the wolves will sink to the right height as they bust trail!
Still really quiet in the track dept.
The day warmed up nicely with zero wind. It was quite a nice sled run.
We might get a foot or more (30cm.)
