Just came back from N Bay and sale was very good. Don told me that they did not give eastern yotes so they are on hold until next sale and he said that they should sell at good prices next sale.
Seems that there's interest in red fox because I was there unloading my furs (Pick up I just did last week end) and he asked about the number of red.
Beaver went a little higher and here, in Eastern Canada, we need this article to go up a little more again because its our bread and butter fur for many trappers.

I don't understand what that means, the print out said 13% of eastern coyote were sold.

Means that buyers wanted "lower starter price" and FHA decided not giving them and they think that they will get what they want at the next sale.
I prefer not selling them compared to giving them.

I stand corrected. The 172.50 each for 3 coon I posted was a mistake on their part. They fixed it a day later. I thought I had some kind of top lot or something. I should have known better and waited before posting. My raccoon ave is now normal, borderline pitiful.

Sell where you want and when you want but I wouldnt sell my rats that cheap unless your size is way off.

I'm told some guys got $60.00 for some of these WI coyotes.
Most guys I have talked to that shipped ND rats got at least a $8.70 average. And those ND rats are all very light when It comes to leather.

agree with Beav on the ND rats being light.. didnt make diff it seems. I had a average of 9.95 with high of 12 and low of 7 which were damaged rats and i had some light rats in bunch

from another site concerning NAFA online aution-
"on my rats.... wisconsin - opening week caught anything M to L brought $6-$8.19 small rats for here . anything XL brought $10 - $11.25 anything 2XL to 3XL brought $11.89 -$13.25
and the lowest grade 700442 brought $.60 - barn rat size I know , I know , but it only takes a few seconds to do and I wanted to see if they would actually buy it.
Very happy with rat price for my collection 3xl-2xl= 17% xl = 13% l -m = 48% runts = 22%"
his average was about $7.50.

With 70% of your rats roughly 14 inches and down and you average $7.50 I would be doing cartwheels down the driveway with those prices!!
Decent lots of WI average rats should do in the upper 8s or better. IO measured all of mine to see how they were. I had 58 2xl and above, 85 XL and above with 19 small, extra small, medium and damage. The rest or about 60 some were larges and mediums. Last year when I did that and they square inched them I had about 20% increases in 2xl and xl we will see what happens this year. Bryce

i m thinkin a little differnt i think that sale was to test the water and nafa sale was the same thing they did well at nafa also i'm thonking beter than $50 dollar avg at those test sales kinda sets the price. I only shipped 17 yotes last year from western ks and 14 of them greded westerns those sold relly well at both sales. I took my coyotes to a local buyer and he offered me $16 avg on put up yotes, phil showed me how to put them up along with jeff i took them home now im glad idid. Ill post what they sell for, kspanky

you just can't compare westerns to easterns.
the coyotes I tanned, caught in the first week of oct in WY, put my best ones here to shame- and we got a decent coyote, albeit commercial type, here. And thats a coyote that the ranch owner looked at, and said, why they got no fur on them- and I said yeah, compared to dec I suppose, but trust me, they will wow them at home, and they did.
same with the ones I got from KS and MT- I sold my early feb KS coyotes for $35 average- same year I sold my Mn coyotes for $24.
If you got good KS coyotes, then $16 is way too low. but average commercial ones are selling under $10 averages what was sold recently at the auctions and there were low grades sold- just not announced in the averages on the select goods.
if you are trapping good western coyotes, I'd get all he can, and a man trapping WY, MT, CO KS NE etc would be a fool not ot skin al lhe could.
Jeff was telling me horrendous mange by him this year- yo urunning into that?

Based on how high the better fox and yotes did I am betting also that the two auction houses were happy to run test lots. For those country buyers that were paying 5-15 for OK carcass yotes and were willing to do the work they could make up some real money on yotes this year. I seem to be seeing or reading about more price down grades for green fur this year and with high UE etc. that surprises me this year. Could be that many buyers were thinking like with average coons etc. that they would not worry so much about moving them quickly and thus offer less and see what happens.

Kansas is really like two different states when it comes to fur. From about HWY 81 West is where fur starts to get better. Here in the Eastern side of the state, our coyotes aren't as good, and our cats really aren't as good. Out of the 36 coyotes I shipped the other day, only 2 got me excited. The other 34 will be same as usual.
