I think you'll like the wolf fang T-man, I've used the iowa's also which are nice but you can't beat the price of $40 for 100. I don't know why anyone would use a Berkshire... but that's me.

Chain is nice when lets say you hit a rock, you don't have to try and "bed" the cable. Chain lays nice and flat. There is no bedding of cable nor is there an cable sticking up in the bed, and I'd bet cable stakes with a heavy loading(as loading a snare) applied to the top half will lay as flat or flatter than chain! The photo shows a load applied to the full length of the stake where now I only load the top half. Probably takes all of two seconds to do and makes for a tight slinky that actually applies tension to the loop against the bottom of the bed! Because of this running controversy of loops sticking up in beds and won't lay flat, with a heavily loaded cable(as in tne photo), drive the stake in and you'll see the loop is lying flat in the bed, pick it up with your finger and see if it doesn't snap down due to the tension from the loading. I know because I've done it!

for me it all boils down to one thing i would rather pay a little extra for a one time purchess than have to buy every year or so.

you will never wear out the wolf fangs, of that I'm sure w/o even trying them. H is understatement.
in everyday trapping, the cable last forever. Chewing is, with rare exceptions, not a problem.
not saying they never rust, but i've had same cable as slide wires in water sets submerged for months at a time, and they last 8-10 years, or more.

i used the berkshires and in one season the cables started rusting.and i dont trust rusty .for cable to last months at a time in water for 10 uears or more without rusting it must be stainless or galvinized.

then you are right to use chain-
I can assure you its not galvanized and for sure can tell you its not stainless- but I set up late nov, wil lbe pulling within next month, do the same year after year, and I put the cables away dry, and pull them out the next year.
I have a bunch made by Ric from Ohio, that I've used going on 12 years.

how many times can you reuse them? If you're asking me, I never reuse a cable stake, I'm a clip-n-go kind of guy. Years ago I used Berkshires and dicked around trying different methods for pulling them. As you see in the photo the example had Berkshires on them but for the past years I make and use my style of pogos which are my kind of cable stake!

Of course the cable is galvanized unless you special order stainless. Thats why its call galvanized aircraft cable.

Berkshires on all footholds until <4" of frozen ground, then rebar. From some reason I can't switch from rebar on snares and DP. (personal issue ) Most I clip and go, never had a pull out. Never reused a stake that was in the ground.
