Hello, I was catching alot of coon early and still getting a few, but I need a good bait now when its cold that the coon can't walk by. I'm using Dps for traps and I can see their tracks walk around my traps and keep going down the trail and they don't work the trap. Thanks and good luck trapping.

Hmm, i dont use dps but when it gets cold i always use some call lure, something skunky but has other ingrediants that appeal to them. Get some hansen coon bait made by keg creek bait and supply and buy a bottle of ldc lure from them and mix it in the coon bait, sounds kinda off the wall but i thought it had the best of both worlds and in the freeze thaw nasty wet conditions, it still called em in!

Steve sells Procoon which has an excellent reputation as a coon lure.

this is what i do and ive tried about everything.
go to your local coop or feed store and buy a 50 pound bag of floating fish food pellets its for catfish and about the size of puppy food. coons love it.
in a 5 gallon bucked fill it half up with fish food then take one of the pint sized cool aid's with the sugar added ( cherry works good for me) and mix that into your fish food pellets. now in the bottom of the dp i squirt some fish oil i have mixed with procoon. then i fill the dp up to the trigger with the now cherry fish food pellets. I then shove a large strawberry marshmellow (kraft only) into the dp opening halfway in. this discourages mice and keeps moisture off your fish food pellets if your using a grizz, duke, or z trap.
on the alcatrazs i do the same but obviously the marshmellow doesnt cover the opening. I tried the coon potion and the cherry coolaid works as good or better and is readily available at the store. this bait is obviously freeze proof and i have caught a pile of coons this year with this method. Ill run a trail of fish oil in each direction to the dp so the coon cant miss it.
im sure someone else has a better way this is what i have found that works the best in my area like i said ive tried about everything over the years.
