sold a bit to get some walking around money yesterday.
prices on most things, seem good to me to start out the year.
sold my fox- put up- $24 tops with a $20 average
sold the few badger I caught, 2 were very nice for this time of year $40 each for those, these were on carcass. flatter ones $15-20
sold my coon, a good collection in size and color and got $15 average on them- green. had one small, flat coon, and actually was told no value- first that ever happened to me there. usually i'll get $5 or so for a "little value" coon. so a tuff grade- he said flat and small forget it
asked about other stuff-
rats- holding steady. he mentioned that he had a few guys with 1000+ rat collections that had read that rats were going to crash and wanted to know if they should sell now, but he said hes talked to some of "his guys" , he showed me there names and a couple were from overseas, and he said they have heard nothing about it. Something about China having a backed up inventory on rats was the rumour
mink- $15-18 males, females $12 or so
coyote- good interest, $25 or maybe a bit more average for my type
otter has increased interest, $50 or so for a good one
beaver- you know that story- $5 kits, $10-15 for adults
all local prices, being paid now

Rats aren't going to crash. How can rats crash when there are NO rats In Inventory. I have talked to lots of trappers In the last few weeks THERE SEEMS TO BE HUGE SHORTAGE OF RATS BEING CAUGHT> Retail sales will decide what happens to the rat market. I turned down $7.50 on put up rats.
$50.00 for otter? I averaged $110.00 last selling season. Don't sell otter In the country.
Those prices don't look to bad.
Got to go got 140 rats to flesh and board before we eat the bird.

Nice to see a little interest in the coyotes. Makes skinning the stinky buggers a "little" less of a headache.
The coon sounds good. A tad more that what normally paid.
Too bad about the beaver. But I/ll trap some anyhow...and likely have lots of elbow room doing it.
Beav, you turned down $7.50 rats? Nice to know...I/m sitting on a pile of them and was wondering if I should gamble and wait awhile....which was by gut feeling.

Beav doesnt always tell the whole story lol.
Rat market could easily crash if the world economy tanks.
If the economies hold rats should be good property.
If I can get seven bucks they are going out the door and i'll catch more.

Yesterday night I was watching a TV report in China and there was a huge town with plenty of projects going on but the tv reporters found out that when night come... The apts lights are OFF. (no people-empty apts) They talked with young chinese workers and in that town... Money is hard to get compared to the past years they said.
It was just a ( )

That's the whole story. I went to the stop wanting $10.00 That didn't happen. I still think the rat market will be strong.
About 90% of the rats go to China and are consumed by the Chinese. I don't think China has any financial problems. But Time will tell. I split up the catch half will go on the February sale and the other half on the May sale.
I still have 150 of my WI rats to do. And I'm going to get My Dec line up and running In a few days.
