Very little value in the fur trade. If you have a taxidermist nearby, see if he'll give you something for it. Some guys like to mount weird stuff, others not. I was selling coons to a t-dermist a few years ago and caught a black one like yours. His going rate was $10 and he boosted the pay to $12. There may be some on-line options. Otherwise, just be happy you caught an unusual specimen! Way to go.

I used to catch a "fisher coon" every other year or so- then about 15 years ago, we starting tanning a few pieces of fur each year- and I've been waiting since then to catch another to get tanned.

I wouldnt let that go for any less than $100. Somebody out there will pay for it.

i have got one in the last couple thousand coon, pretty rare. i scraped and dried mine and put on the garage wall with some other pelts. i don't have a den so my insulated attached garage is my man cave.

Ive been paid more for white porcupines which are probably more common than black coons, at least around here.

If my wife doesn't quit invading my man-cave, I'm going to start putting up the skunks I catch.

Black coons are not that uncommon in some parts of the country. i have one farm that produces several every year (it will probably make a liar of me this year now that i said it). The ones i catch rarely get quite as completely black as that one, but they are all very close to that. The tail and hips are always black to the point you can not see the rings. As you approach the face, some will lighten up a bit.
