Chris; Stout is for "husky" sized fellows-you would need regular. I think Hodgeman had a size chart that showed the stout measurements and I think "stout" size was also a couple of inches shorter in the inseam.

Stout in the neoprene's fit like an old style regular pair of waders instead of like a body condom, this way you can actually fit some clothing under the wader. All I get is stout's anymore, a little better ventilation, easy to get on and off, and a little shorter leg. I used to have 6" of folded over material on the regular size, who in hell has a 36" inseam?

thas a problem for sure- to get a big enough foot, they also give me more length- which I don't need.

LOL! Just the opposite here Steve. I have tiny feet (but a big wiener) , size 8.5 and wind up too short on lenght(I'm 5' 10"). So I go size 10 or 11, dependin on brand. I find Hodgeman and Toggs on sale alot (right now in fact) at our MC Sports here in Madison. Not sure where else the chain is, but they seem to overstock here. Most go to Dick's,Gander and Cabela's for "outdoor gear" around here. Got a bunch of "otter sheds" there a few years ago at clearance prices. Small stock room + poor ordering skills = great savings at times. It's right next to Home Depot, so I pop in at least once a week to check on outdoor stuff. We brought a trailer 5 years ago when they cleared out treestands after hunting season. They seem to have that item under controll now.

Calvin, I've been buying the dry plus brand like you just purchased for going on ten years and I aint never seen a pair on sale yet. Steven and calvin, are these the type of waders you are talking that you like and are using? I bought and returned a couple pair of neoprene waders last year and am in the maket again after surviving last year in my old rubbers and neoprenes on their last legs. I cant get the link to post, here's what they are labeled as and they are on sale for $169.....normally $210. Cabela's Dry-Plus™ Breathable Hunting Chest Waders – Stout •Breathable Dry-Plus membrane •600-gram Thinsulate Ultra Insulation in the boots •Super abrasion-resistant knees •Multifunction chest pocket Is the stout necessary or are the regulars pretty decent sized? Or are the regulars an insanely long inseam such that us vertically challenged folks might get mad? Looking mainly for a fall water line/spring beaver wader, and if you claim they are good in the winter all the better! Please let me know asap if you see this as they have free shipping on footwear orders over $99 ending tomorrow.... Happy trapping. ScottW

Scott, Sounds like the same waders I bought. Cabelas Dry Plus is what they called. And I believe they were the 600 grams of thinsulate, too. However, they make two different models. One is alittle cheaper than the other. The difference is the front pocket on the upper model. The upper model also has a double knee. I don't remember if the less expensive model has the double knee or not. Worth checking, IMO. I looked at both side by side in the store and thought it was worth the extra money for the higher model...but I/ve come accustom to the front pockets and would be hard to go back to no front pocket. The suspenders are nice, too...they easy to adjust and have some elastic in them so they move with your shoulders.
As far as stout vs regular, I went with the regulars and I/m short. I think the stout models would be more of a benefit if you had more around the middle...which can happen in the winter when it gets really cold but I figure if I/m out trapping rats in them, I/m working hard enough to generate a little heat. If it got too cold, I/d probably toss a coat on outside the waders.
I have not used them in the conditions Steven has but I/ve used them last year when below freezing in an aluminum boat for several hours at a time where It got pretty cold. They are not as insulated like the neoprenes are so you can feel the cold water in them, but once out of the water, they warm right back up. I started wearing an extra thin pair of long jons under them and have worn sweatpants under them as well.
They don't wear you down like the neoprenes do. I spent 10-12 hours a day in them this spring and forgot I had them on. Like wearing jeans.
I normally wear a 9 size boot. However, I went with the 8s in these waders. But I don't like sloppy feet when stuck in the muck.

Sounds good! I was skeptical of this type of wader but a friend of mine who fishes a lot swears them after he finally tried them and now that you guys say they'll be up to the task I think I'll bite the bullett! I still don't know why I couldn't get the link to post like you did! I think I will go with the stouts as every pair of waders I've ever tried on before the stouts have been the ticket for me. If all else fails I guess I can send em' back and exchange!
And like I said before, cabelas has a special through tomorrow for free shipping on footwear and clothing over $99 if you actually planned to get another pair soon.
Thanks much! Happy trapping. ScottW

Cover what ever you decide on with Filson chaps. They're worth the drying time especially if your waders are light and doing double duty in the trout/steelhead streams at other times of the year. Wearing chaps also tends to confuse prying eyes as well. I have had excellent luck with Patagonia waders year round when protected for trapline use. This set-up is a bit pricey, but both articles have a proven lifetime warranty and so you only buy them once....

Bought a pair of those boot foot Dry Plus waders from Cabelas, after reading this thread. I couldn't help settin a few traps today, and got to try the new waders. I've been wearing neoprene for sometime, I go through atleast 1 pair every season, and I'm trying to be carefull. Most years, 2 sets. I like these new waders, they are lighter than neoprene, and they do not hold water like neoprene. They are way colder than neoprene. Pro-Con you choose. For me today, they were cold. I'm still chilled to the bone. Today was only the first day, we'll see what happens after a season of use, in the durability department. Jim

Jim, I've never gotten much more than a year out of em.
But I'm a big dude and I stretch the seams. Usually leak in the crotch.
I dont know how you got cold in em today. 34 degrees up here couldnt get enough clothes off. We have absolutely fantastic ice up here. I havent worn the waders for a week and with no snow on the ice you can see the bad spots.
Pair of rain pants and a rain jacket to keep dry
