Looking to do some more out of state trapping this season - invites to NY and Upper UP of Michigan. Maybe even Miss...
Anyone doing any out of state trapping?
Looking forward to the season....hit the road, do some cold rolling and have some Obrien's in my back seat. Sky is always the limit with trips- you're only limited to your imagination...

We're required to use cage traps on those in CA, and with our reciprocal license law a PA resident would not be allowed to take a sasquatch.

3.50 gas and cold rolling for fur out of state? Specially in northern climates which could receive a ton of snow? Sorry doesn't sound very business savey or like much fun to me, but each their own I guess.

ive been thinking of buying a non res ky license if i trap the tug river this year as it borders wv and i can wade across in most spots.in wv we are allowed 1 otter a 100 feet away in ky their allowed 6.wv is allowed 3 bobcats ky is allowed 5.plus it would give me more good gray fox trapping ground.

also in w.va we have to tag our beavers but not in ky.so as long as i had the right license it would be ok to have some tagged and some not?

I'd check with the local wardens- you would think you would be ok, but one never knows- it might be illegal ot possess untagged beaver in your home state, so you might want to have some documentation as to where and when, you came into possession of untagged ones.

Both otters and bobcats require CITES tags so you probably have to tag them before crossing a state line with them to be completely legal.
Could be Federal charges under the Lacey Act for failing to do so.
Ask KY F&W and WV DNR about the legality and get it in writing from them for how it must be done.

No, there is always a need to get an interpretation of the law from those who enforce the law, and in writing, it's a good business practice that protects your interests.
As fishdaddy states,
That brings up the legal question of tagging cats or otters before he wades back across the river, or rows, motors, paddles, drives, walks, etc..
If KY and WV provides the CITES tags in advance and you can tag the animal upon harvesting it in the state you harvested it in before crossing back over the state line.
It is an interesting legal question...................... Which goes beyond state law, the Feds may look at it differently.
It would be an issue in the West where many states do not issue CITES tags in advance, but rather you have the tags affixed by the game warden or other F&G personnel. If you were trapping a border region, staying in one state but crossing into another and then back it might be an issue.
