Going through some old files today, found a copy of the 1974 Wisconsin Trapping Regs. Actually, it was the '74 Hunting and Trapping Regs. Isn't that interesting. 2011 Trapping Regs: 31 pages long, including info on BMPs. 1974 Trapping Regs: The last 4 1/2 pages of this smaller pamphlet.' Raccoon Season: Fox Season: Muskrat and Mink Season: Bobcat Season? Daily Bag Limit: none. Possession Limit: none Open Season: Statewide, October 12 through Feb 28. Beaver and Otter Seasons hadn't been worked out yet and a note stated they will be available later at Department field stations and county clerk offices. Coyotes were listed as unprotected. 1974 was my final year in the Air Force. Returned from Thailand, discharged in December, and started college (again, but more sober this time) the next month. And got back into trapping the following season.

a couple of interesting things stand out- the open all year vs seasons on coon/fox. wonder what the rationale was about that? Esp when you consider that many counties had one open all year, and the other a season. and look at the protection duck hunters had- on all those big rat marshes- I remember a lot of years with ice duck hunting those same regions, and to have to wait until duck season ended, meant ice most years for WI. I think they should bring that one back.....
