dried vs fresh castor for beaver

Ok I make lure and catch beaver - that anit hard and I don’t pretend to be a lure maker that being said. I know that dried smells different than fresh . I never seen a beaver dry castor. Its easier for me to just open the sac and mix up. Is drying castor just a convenience thing ??

I use two different beaver lures. One is made from bone dry castor and one is made from castor fresh from the beaver. The both catch beaver equally.
