I've not used it in the summertime, but found for me, it was a "warm" weather lure for all practical purposes. In below freezng weather, it wasn't what I needed. I'd Guess it would be a good summer lure.

honestly, I don't think anything compares to the synthetic lures like Hardcore and ProCoon.
And thats not putting down anyones lure- I've used a lot of them and most were good coon catchers, some darn good cooncatchers. The ones I found lacking, were the very mild types- and if you have a ton of coon or were right at feeding locations it might not be a problem.
What I like about both Hardcore and Procoon, is that both have very far reaching carrying capibilites. Procoon I feel is more intense, and I can smell it further from my sets on average than HC. ProcCoon has the advantage over Hardcore in that it HarCore seems to shut down some below freezing.
just my opinion, of ocurse.

This isn't the first time I have read where you called Procoon intense and far reaching. I got a bottle from you and if I stick my nose in it I can barely smell some mint. Did I get a bad bottle or is that the way it is?

no, thats not the way it is- its so odor intense, that it burns your nose if you sniff too much.
if it was me that sold it too you, pm me with details and I'll replace it.

Yep i do disagree. If I didn't we would only be looking at one point of view and that Is not how we learn.
I have to go make some money but I'll be back and give you my point of view on this subject.

my point of view, was made after trapping coons 5 months a year for many years in conditions when all but a very few, are done working coon- I know what works in such conditions, and know what doesn't work. Those trapping only in early season, or down south, very well could have different needs.

I have not had a lot of luck with Pro-coon or Hardcore. There are other lures that smell the same and pretty much the same results for me. Now, I know others have great luck with it...and I don't doubt them for a second. This is one of the mysteries of trapping to me: Is odd how one lure can work almost wonders for one and not much at all for the next guy. It bothered me some in the past but I remember Dobbins saying he found the same thing true with him and his Dad growing up with certain lures. I would have to assume that father/son would have real similar trapping habits so what causes the difference? I have no idea but I quit fighting it, nor to I slam any lure that doesn't work for me, anymore because its probably someone else s #1 lure. It just is, I guess.
I/m going to try some of the Coon Candy this year. I have not had a lure (or bait solution) from Dobbins that hasn't worked real well for me. I don't even bother with any other beaver lure anymore (other than sac oil).

Pro coon works as a attractor but I will NEVER place It In a pocket set or use It In a DP. If the coon gets one taste of pro coon and hasn't been caught It will beat a hasty retreat to places un known.
We tested It on a tame coon. One taste and that coon was pawing at it's mouth and running It's mouth along the ground and through the grass to rid It's self of that taste. Before we did the coon we tried It on my buddies dog. The dog wasn't dumb enough to get a taste..
Used as long distance call lure fine but keep It away from the actual set.
Don't know about Hard Core.
Use a long distance lure and use a eatable bait In the DP or hole.
