Walk thru. But different than what you see in all the current books and videos.
Block the trap with rocks tight to the jaws on each side but open to the front and back. Takes four rocks about half the size of a cottontail.
On either side of the rocks add sticks and brush or whatever to block the trail. So the only way thru is the opening right over the trap.
This is truly a walk thru versus blocking the trail with a lincoln log fort which gets some cats to turn around or step over the works. The cat doesn't have to step over a stick, rock or anything. Green light to walk right in and the kitties oblige.
Set it blind or add a favorite lure and urine up high if possible and on both sides. Get the cat to walk over and thru more than once. Add a dangling strip of cloth or something twisting in the wind nearby as a long distance call.
Will get a miss or two cause the cat lucks out. But set two or three in a roll and you will get em.

John I agree with you on the "lincoln log" setup. I've seen too many cats come up to something like that and turn around or jump.
I've gone to using one stepping stick rather than two stopping sticks, haven't seen a refusal yet.

I catch all mine on dirt hole sets, the bigger the mess the better! Going to try some walk thru and blind sets next year! There isn't a lot of big rocks around here though, flat land! Guess your sets are dictated by your surroundings mostly.
