I have a couple of gallons of chunked beaver and muskrat and I am wanting to make a bait solution for some of it. I am going to purchase a couple of commercial varieties of bait solution, but I want to try my hand at making some of my own. I have some beaver castor and beaver sacs with oil and some skunk essence. I am willing to buy one maybe two more additives to this, such as; ambrette musk, valerian, asafaoetida, etc.. But I am mostly interested in keeping it food based, with maybe a hint of something else.
I am wanting to keep it fairly simple and use a fish oil base but not sure of how much to add of each to keep one from overiding the others. I will be using various lures along with the bait, so I am not necessarily trying to replace my use of lure with this solution, just looking to add some kickers. I have Carman's and Wyshinki books and they help alot, but I was looking for some personal experience from some of you guys that make your own. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
