went out messing around this morningand located a den and even got the whole gang of pups to laugh good. just did it for giggles. reminded me of wyoming. narrowed them down just by sound that I could have walked/drove to them in about 10 minutes.

mouth. easiest is a siren like the gmen have mounted on the truck fronmtand a flip switch inside. I got one once and used it pretty regular in wyoming to locate them. just drive around and roll down the window and fire it off. if you know you are even remotely close to a pair, 2-3 miles, like jeff at the feelot, or I just look for tracks at the waterholes or same places you look in the fall. then you can mouth it and just go on nice still mornings like we had here this morning, or the evening if the wind is down. some days they aren`t in the mood, so don`t take no as a no. once they get yakking they realy like to let go. must be fun for them. kind of just telling the world they arealive and happy to be here. like you felt after your first kiss.

was riding with Wiley once in the badlands- he stopped and said he wanted to locate some cooytes, so started calling with his mouth...mom answered, then pop- then Scott says- "lets get those pups wound up" and really starts making squalling sounds, and by gosh if all those pups didn't answer! pretty cool.

Bob this siren, you speak of, can they be purchased by common people? and if so, could ya, and would it be worth getting one to locate dens in late summer, after pups have some size to em, and before they start roaming?

You can get the sounds, several different ones on Foxpros or other E-calls. I like and have had the best luck with the old school siren sound but a buddy uses the newer "tornado" doppler sounding one and likes it.
I've had luck with siren in the spring, summer and early fall but by fur season most coyotes have been there and done that with sirens and head for different parts when you fire them up. Some times it sure fires the coyotes up though.

The problem in some areas is they are over used and the "wail" isn't the best locating sound, there are others that are sure fire to get pup's to answer and most of the time if I get them I know where I need to be to call the adults. Also some older coyotes won't answer back until you get those pups to sound off then the place gets real loud with the adults and pups all sounding off.
One example is our small town still does the noon and 6 pm siren so within a few miles of town the siren isn't the best locating sound as they have heard it 2-3 times a day every day.
