Muskrat grades look good. Wood was definatly better than wire, but the margin is not as big as I expected. We will see what the price difference is tomorrow!
49er, did you do a comparisson between your wood and wire rats?

Gary your info on the other thread was somehow inexplicably lost .
steven - hardly-
it was lost because it ignored two requests, to limiting posts to those selling green and why- those requests were, asked nicely, to please not hyjack the thread any more- that the thread was NOT about what was someones personal opinion on how to sell fur, its was WHY THOSE THAT SELL GREEN DID SO and was not going to go down the tubes in sea of yellow, as every other such post on selling fur has-
when those requests were ignored, those posts were removed-
see- easy to exaplain the inexplicable, once one knows the facts.

All my rats graded NTH (80% graded WTR with about 20% grading FAl. Most are running 2XL to 3XL With most In the 1-11 And 30 In the SEL category.
Glad I didn't sell in the country at $4.00 clearances. Could be a very profitable sale.

Wow Beav that is very good grades. Mine are good but now where near that good a grade or size.
I sold 25 that were randomly pulled from the better 150 of my rats and sold on December 19th to Groenwald for $4.92 Average. In a few hours we will see how similar rats sell on this sale.
Just looked Beav I had 100% NTH with 37 out of 130 WTR I had 34 1* grades, 2 selects, 4 slt damage and all the rest 1-11s nothing lower Bryce

Did you do wood?
|
|
|
Post by bblwi on Mar 12, 2010 21:46:39 GMT -6
Yup all my Groenwald and the March NAFA rats are on wood. I sold a mixed lot of wire rats in January at our local sale for 5.71 average and I shipped my poorest 30 rats that were all wire and averaged 4.49 at NAFA on the January INTERNET sale.
Many will argue but to me with the better and heavier rats the wood really makes for a better appearance on my rats. There may be others that do wire better than me but I will do the wood based on these grades.

I really don't think wood does you any good In the country. Country buyers buy in 4 piles Large med and small and damage out.

Sixty percent of mine went fall, nothing new there. I think its the thin leather, 90 percent of my rats were caught after teh 15th of december and 75 percent after the first of the year approximately.
I had 5 in the central grade robert, rest northern. Any idea the difference between a central and a northern?

Funny how that works Stephen I did not catch a rat after November 19th. My better 120 were caught from November 5th trhough the 19th.

Steven I bet If you put those rats on wood they would grade more toward a WTR grade. All rats come out thinner on wire no matter where you catch them.

Gary what makes you think the majority I shipped werent put up on wood?
Gary I would say that 70 percent of the rats I shipped were put up on wood.
One account I know that every rat in there was put up on wood. 1/3 approximately graded winters.
But in looking at my past accounts thats better than I did before.
Now it could be an anomoly or a trend.

I thought when we talked you only had a few boards. You must have up graded. Did you find that the wood rats had a heavier feel and look?

I only have six boards, but you can put alot of rats up on six boards in 2.5 months lol.
Much nicer feel and look.
