I trap them w/ a conibear nailed on the inside of the jaws either to a tree or board. I also bait the trigger w/ peanut butter on bread or crackers and peanut butter...

a story with Buzz and squirrels.....
a few years ago, Buzz and I were talking as he was on the way to a job- squirrel in the chimmney under the flue. So Buzz figured he would just reach in with leather gloves and grab the squirrel....
after the job...he called back to say mission accomplished...
unfortunately, the "squirrel" was a racoon. Buzz said the owners were pretty impressed when he pulled that coon out wrapped around his arm...
"scars heel, pain hurts; but only for a minute...I do it cause the chicks dig it..."

I strictly trap squirrels 99% with cages because our stae has a hang up with making it law to kill them without a permit. I have never been a fan of excluding squirrels think about this if you lock yourseldf out of the house do you move? Animals won't either.

Before we tore down the hovel, we had a problem with squirrels getting in the attic and wreaking havok. They chewed a hole in the soffit (I think that's what it is called) and I attempted to exclude them, but they just chewed another hole. So, I killed every single one of them. Case closed. Until the next year.
