Why doesn't the DNR send out ballots to ALL lic trappers? after all, they sure can send them all a questionaire after the seaosn.
Because the dnr doesnt care and do not see it as a priority.
so maybe 100 or so MTA members, most from the north, because after all- the meeting is held in Jan in the north- voted to continue to keep NR trappers out of MN.
If its that important to you, were you there to be counted. I wasnt ,albeit the last time it was voted on I may have been against it.
The only thing that brainerd and barnum are north of is the cities.
It wouldnt matter to me if it was held in Luvurne or I Falls if it was to be voted on again by a hand vote I'll be there.

sorry steven it IS important to me-
the MTA is not.
If you, like Meiss, think that the vote matters at all- then you do.
Live long and prosper under it.
I've contacted a local legislator, and will be talking to him about introducing a bill for NR.
no limits, no special excemptions nothing but buy a lic here and trap.
Those against it, sure can organise and speak at the state capital.
I look forward to seeing who rushs to speak to against it.

speaking of legislators, Pat, the womans whose husband was busted on martin or fisher or whatever it was- darn near busted a bra strap trying to get headlines about ND laws agaisnt out of state ducjk hunters- fornt page news..
she gave EVERY reason in the world, why those limitations were wrong. Correct ones btw.
Pat, the sportsmen friend!
Yea Pat!
except...she would not touch NR trapping, had no interest in it, wouldn't even discuss the idea.
Her convictions that NR should be allowed anywhere with no limiting factors because they were NR apparently was ok for hunting and fisihng.. not only ok, but an issue she would fight hard for....
but not trapping.....
wonder why?

If you, like Meiss, think that the vote matters at all- then you do
I think you and i know both what I think.
I think that if the MTA, according to its bylaws, voted down NR so be it. Any organization that wont work within a democratic process as outlined by its bylaws, I will not have anytime for.
But if you are going to be on your soap box let the world knwo that you didnt vote on the issue and you didnt lobby any trappers for the issue.
And to bring up the meeting is up north you should qualify it. It aint north of nothing as far as many of us that are actually are up north are concerned.
Now just because they voted no and havent found the time to reveiw the situation again doesnt mean that I cant pursue my options by other means.
If you have just contacted your legislature you are in about fifth or tenth place lol, so if its looked at dont take sole credit please. And if it is necessary to testify before a committee someday I hope you can find the time in your busy schedule to do just that.
I could give a rats butt what senator pariseau's agenda is.

Im about the 10th guy to contact a legalator to try to get whats right done?
Good! then maybe it will happen.
Please show me what state regulation mentions the MTA as the only voice for trappers?
The MTA does not speak for ME, or for the other 4500 trappers in MN that don't want anything to do with the MTA.
If it speaks for you, be happy.
Pursue whatever options you want- I'll do the same.

If the MTA is doing so much good for trappers odd that they would worry about another organisation taking all their members.
If the MTA were doing so much good for trappers- then their membership would be growing by leaps and bounds.
But the MTA doesn't speak for all trappers in MN, not nearly all.
Yet, they go out of their way, to prevent another voice from speaking.
Odd.

it would apper more mn residentswould benefit from allowing non residents in than not. look how many mn. trappers leave out of state when thes now flys, or to take adsvantage of the present hi cat prices, but have their options severely limited by reciprocal laws. heck, you guys can`t even come to indiana and trap our cheapo coons in the clouds and the mud. seriously, how many would even want to come trap in mn if not living stradling the border or had relation there? no offense, but cold and snow and limits on anything worth anything is not conducive to an influx of trappers.

Odd.
My understanding is that with the leadership said new organization had picked it was a good chance the mta wasnt going to object.
Something was odd.
Give me a few days and we can discuss that at length if you'd like.
You think those 4500 trappers arent members because they dont like the mta?
Okay...
If the MTA were doing so much good for trappers- then their membership would be growing by leaps and bounds.
It doesnt work like that and you know it.
How many people actually vote in a general presidential election.
I dont know but its probably about the same percentage as the percentage of licensed trappers who are mta members.
Its called apathy.
I go to 75 percent of my union meetings.
We have 13000 members. Think we can get a third to show up?
How about 5 percent? Maybe three, if there is free food and beer.
But the ones that dont want to be a part of the process sure know how to bitch.
