Ks used to be reciprical. It ended a few years ago. Our state legislature, in its infinite wisdom, combined fish and wildlife with parks. The state parks were not selfsustaining so the merge was made to finance parks. Then Ks got into trouble with the Feds for using federal money earmarked for wildlife on state parks. These parks are nothing more than campgrounds at reservoirs throughout the state. The next idea they had was to sell bobcat tags to the folks coming here to hunt deer and birds. Instead of paying 250 dollars for a furharvester tag after shooting a bobcat now they can buy a single bobcat tag for 100. Of course they are supposed to buy the tag before killing a cat but I doubt any do. In order to assure that all the deer hunters could buy a tag, reciprocity was done away with. Steve is there anything nonresidents can do to help end Mn's blockade of nonresident trapping? I thoroughly enjoy my out of state trips and want to trap as many as I can before I'm too old.

keep putting pressure on the FTA and the NTA to put pressure o nMN for their stand alone stance.
If it was the DNR holding it up over the MTA protests, that would be one thing.
But as the dnr told me- until the MTA sanctions the concept of NR, it will never happen.

Yes it will be a hard run this winter. Even trying to haul an ATV and trailer hitched on will be hard going on some of the roads I have, just to get to a parking spot along a side berm and maybe take a chance of getting stuck when you go to leave.

I doubt if it will dry out this winter at this point. Only hope is a good cold spell and some good wind.

? for you kansas boys. Is a driver liscense# on a trap tag OK or does it have to be your name ,address, town and state. That is alot to put on the tag. Driver liscense # is way simpler.

The law requires the users name and address of the trapper on all traps and snares.

I think the mud is here to stay now too much moisture
when all this melts in a few days only main county roads will be traversable.
There are still 5 ft drifts covering several of the pasture gates I wanted to set up close to the house for fresh ground.

Calling for rain on Sunday, so with the snow melt mud, we'll have a little rain mud to go along with it. Backroads are going to be nasty come this weekend. I either need to pull some sets, or be willing to do a lot of hard walking.

I've got about 15 sets out right now and haven't caught much since xmas. Doing a lot more walking than driving. It's finally got cold enough that I can drive my truck over the froze ground in the mornings but that is going to change by week's end as the warm temps will probably thaw things out enough to get it real soggy.
Seem I got a critter drought going here in E KS as I am not seeing the rabbits, mice, etc that I normally see when on the line. The recent snow has shown this more to me lately - areas last year that were covered in rabbit tracks have almost none now.
We got a late freeze last year and some big time flooding here in my area late spring that I think may have whacked the food species. My number are down slightly from last year and not seeing the predator sign like I have over the last couple years.
Any of you E KS guys got lower numbers?

Its going to be nasty no doubt until a cold snap rolls back in. Got real cold out there last nite but showing a real warm spell coming in by the weekend.I am going to hit the road friday and at least not have to contend with snow/sleet while driving out. May spend a couple of days hitting new ground for permissions before setting out and getting my new home in order for the next month or so. Hopefully it will begin to cool down by then.

I set some new ground up yesterday and the day before and had to chop through three inches of frozen ground to make a set.
