With me catching mostly coyotes and few fox, I would be happy to be 100% #3-size traps, offset, laminated, 4-coiled, base-plate with center swivels.....
But since I have so many #2 Bridgers and NW's set up the same way, I set them early and save the #3's for colder weather and snow......
But, if I had all #3's, which I am slowly working towards as a goal, I'd use them from the opening bell.....
I have several Bridger 3's with inside and outside lam's that are really nice......wide, smooth gripping surface.
I have re-tooled twice in the last 10 years....first, selling all my 1.5 coils for 1.75's and then I sold all my 1.75's for #2's.
This time, while I could and should lose some of the #2's, I will keep the bulk of them and just keep adding #3's as I buy new traps....slow and steady.
This way, if I move out of state, more reds move in, laws change, etc., I will be ready......broke, but ready!

Great post guys! I do have a question on the k9 wolfer traps. How do they compare with the Bridger #2 modified. Are there any mods that need to be done to this trap? Wouldn't the cast jaws be a plus in eliminating any cutting? Would you still need to laminate them?

Teh jaws work fine but it is a rather small trap and I'm not that confident in the springs. I've held yotes in them but always on a drag. I'm certain that they will hold yotes but I would not put them on the same level as a #2 Briger or similar trap.

Im not sure I understand about the 1.5 and #2 on coon-but the problem with small traps on coyotes is that the trap is too small in relation to the coyotes foot- resulting in too many misses. I suppose one can and am sure some do 4 coil a 1.5 with #2 springs or some such ((I can see one sitting one a shelve in outstate NY...) - but the trap jaw spread is just too small. I am assuming thats what WQ is saying.
