we;ve been lucky- rain every day -13 out of last 14- but scattered and dry inbetween- but access is becoming a problem.

OH No not the old POX I hope you have sunny skies and dry fields. But I'm listing to the rain coming down and I couldn't be happier. Tomorrow I lay out the first 100 trap loop then On wed I'll lay out the other 100 trap loop. Locations will all be flagged and In trails with little or no cover I'll place my wire enclosures. These enclosures are a total pain hauling them around but they sure do shine when you place a 160 or 220 In them. Right now I have orders for 600+ coon carcases before Thanksgiving so I got to get going.

$7.00 for every carcase, Could be a good year. I'm a bit concerned about getting In and out of my coon machine several 100 times a day. (Chevy Caviler) It will either kill me or put me In the best shape of my life. Probably cripple me for life LOL.

several hundred times a day- so if each stop has 2-3 sets- you will be running 300-400 coon sets? Now that wil lget you in shape!

200 trail sets, most will only have one trap per trail unless they are really smoking hot then I'd double them up. Once out per set and one time back In 400 times In a day wow It just might cripple me LOl What the heck I'll just hang a picture of Bob on my mirror for Incentive LOl

I was watching the news last night and they were saying how bad it was In GA. It said with out rain they had like 2 to 3 months and they would be without drinking water. It's the same In SC.I may even cut my trapping time down to 1 month and then just trap cats and fox and catch some coyotes for the live market. But soon as I head south It will start to rain It always does.

Beav, You might get them to pay you to head south now, just to make it rain. If you could get Bob W to go with you you could cause a flood like they have never seen!

I got a few hundred snares an 220s ready to rock an roll but would much rather drive 20-30 miles to float a river than drive 150 - 200 miles to road trap have major theift an catch less with my old truck easier on overhead ! MATTDUNCAN

I must be very lucky as to theft It's non existent here and I believe that I can catch as many coon or more on a road line as i could In the water and with a lot less effort. And they are all DRY. We always have some coon on the water but the majority of them are working the corn fields at this time of year. when the corn Is gone so will the coon and then they head to the next available food source and that's the water. Will be setting a water line as soon as the road line drys up. You will catch a lot more coon if you use both methods. Will have to use the truck to put out the line but then It's back to the 30 mpg coon mobile.

Beav, not much rain up here in New Brunswick either.Just about as dry as I have seen in the last 20 years. Starting to get real frosty nights. Can't wait to start trapping in couple of weeks. Our coon season starts on Oct 27.Some of those old boars should be prime real soon.Coons should be around any water hole if you can find any.I'm going to hit the river banks first instead of waiting till later on.
