Joel- so whats the actual coyote to cat ratio (not trapped, just running free) in that type of area?

This area probably has more cats.
It is sheep range and the coyotes get the heck shot out of them.
That frees up the prey base for the cats.
All 3 of these came from the valley floor which is rare in heavy coyote areas.
Lions are very abundant in the hills because this trapline is very close to the California border.
They really work the deer over bad.
I had a friend that caught a big tom lion here a couple of years ago that had 20 plus packrats in it's belly.
I used to just go someplace else when I saw lion sign, now I just set small traps and hope they get away.

Nice Job, Joel! Steve, I know that area looks desolate, but that is the kind of area I hunt Yotes. I never did understand densities of Cats and Yotes in an area. I know I see lots of tracks. I also hunt Mulies in that type of terrain.

G I found a real nice four point shed out in these flats the other day.
Have no idea where they are getting water.
Must be trailing.

Nice work Joe. I called in lion the other night and I was near the Nev. border. I wish you guys would keep them on your own side.

Government hunters and ranchers in airplanes put the hurt on the coyotes in sheep country.
