Today I set up a pond for otter. I was coyote trapping this particular farm, until the owner called me and told me his pond was full of otters. Sure enough, there were at least 4 different otters swimming around when I got there(He said he had seen 6). Since I was coyote trapping I didn't have any drowning cables, so I had to stake my traps solid. Does anyone here catch and hold otters with regularity in footholds that are staked solid? No drowning wires...staked solid. I did have a pair of #330s along that I set, but I had to use my #3s for my other sets. I'm just curious as to what kind of luck you guys have with holding otters when not rigged to drown. I did catch and hold an incidental otter earlier this season in a #1.5, so I think I'll be okay. I just wanted to hear your experiences. I'm sure looking forward to tomorrows check. Having those otters swimming around and watching me while I set traps sure got the blood pumping! Thanks, Adam

all our radioed otters were caught in #1 double staked solid. Our main concern was injury not holding- so we used 24 inch chains with 7 swivelling points.
We did have several toenails as souveniors, but thats to be expected with a #11 sized trap.
