What's your preference for stretching your coyote pelts...wood boards or wire? ... and why?
Is there a particular manufacturer of either stretcher that you believe gives superior shape and size?
thanks

I like boards for fox- tried a few last year, and this year did all our fox on boards.
Don't like the longer drying time with coyotes however- plus the time pinning them. I didn't see any real difference in the wire or wood ones. Will stick with wire on yotes.

I use both wood and metal coyote stretchers, because I have both and not enough wood stretchers to do them all on wood.
The coyotes done on wooden stretchers look and sell the best. I preferr an adjustable wooden stretcher over the solid board ones with the belly boards.
Both work but if buying new stretchers, go with the wooden ones.

that might be true where you sell your furs- it is NOT true in any way here. Same with the fox- I think they look better but $0 extra dollars for that.
A good fur is a good fur- whether a beaver put up on wood or wire OR a canine.
If your buyer is docking you for wire- then get a new buyer.

"A good fur is a good fur- whether a beaver put up on wood or wire OR a canine."
I agree with this %100. That's why most all coyote go on wire for me. They dry faster on wire and I actually like the looks as well or better than wood. The only coyote on wood for me are a few damp ones, since rusty wires aren't good.

A good fur is a good fur- whether a beaver put up on wood or wire OR a canine. An experienced buyer will know the difference, so many of these rumors got started by less than honorable fur buyers who used any excuse they could get away with to screw trappers over. A good fur buyer makes his money by filling his orders on time, and by having the pick from a lot of clients, fur buyers who don't practice honest fur buying may stay in business for a while, but they suffer eventually. I think a lot of the wood is better BS, got started by wood stretcher makers.... ;D

IMHO, I think the same coyote put up on wood over wire looks much better, and feels much better, but as said, my buyer dont care either way on most but I get a better year end ave than the wire boys around here.

They do look better to our untrained eye, but the price is what matters in the end.
