Well we are back from the sale. Got to meet some fellow PA trappers for the first time in person. Scrapper, Kevinup, Trapperjohn, and Clefus were all there, and those boys had some nice furs to sell. The first thing that struck me about this sale was that about 75% of the fox brought in were Greys. The number of Coyotes brought in would have topped the Reds as well. There were only 4 buyers there, but the Lion was treated pretty good by Sunderlands from Grampian PA. He bought all of the Lions rats. Had some great conversations with other trappers there and some non trapping on lookers who just had to come up and talk, hope it wasn't the Cat riding on my head that gave me away ;D. The WCOs that were present were also real decent guys, I would say, they were VERY trapper friendly.
The District 4 people must have known that Nittany Lion was coming to their sale, because they set the sale up in a pre-school activity center and lo and behold, Ninny was ecstatic because at this place he could actually reach the urinals, as they were about a foot off of the floor!! ;D ;D

It was great meeting the trappers Cathead mentioned, and taking a leak in those urinals was like a duck taking to water. Cathead will never admit it, but he had me heading East when we should have been heading West. It only held us up about 2 hours so it was no big deal.

We started out heading East cause I thought you wanted to drop in on the mini convention at Terry's house first.

I stopped at a local buyer today in the western part of pa and his k9 ratios were 175 grays to 12 reds and just a few coyotes. Muskrats also were not plentiful.

Some results from an Ohio TA auction today:
I didn't have a good representation of K-9's but the going price (ave) was about mid twenties for both red's and coyote.I averaged 12.90 on a 108 coon (large and up), made me smile. Fall 'rats were about $2.50 ave.and our premium Ohio 'possum did a little better than that

dang lion, you went to sunderland? he is well known in my area for ripping trappers off. I absolutely refused to go to his table. I sold mine to epler who paid me more than double what another buyer offered. It was great meeting cathead and lion there. Oh yeah, Don clinger wanted to know if that cak on your head is a pa cat? mike

StayatHomeDuke, when we first got there we pretty much just BSed with guys for a while, at that time the early prices offered for Reds were $17. A few guys were grumbling about this and I don't blame them, I would ship before letting my Reds go for that. By the time we left it was up to $23 on the same lots that were offered $17 earlier. I do not know what they ended up being paid, but again I don't know what the smalls and flats were going for, the prices I stated were for Good quality well handled pelts. I did see some XXL-XXXL " BLUE " coon get $15 I also saw some medium prime go for $6-$8.
