I looked at the trapper and other mags and this months really sounds doom and gloom for the coon market the very best region 12 XXXL and XXL's 1 and 11's sound a top of 8-10 finished out not carcass or greens, but put up, with an average lower than that!!!! As soon as someone sells some coon please post your high, low and average and number of coons sold. I'm interested in what will be trully paid from country buyers as there are 100,000's of coon sitting in hands and most are the very best coons, so I look for country buyers to be real, real conservative on buying coons. As an ol' iowa trapper the coons were the bread and butter now it's sounds like unless a big change in the next year they may be stale bread crumbs.

Don't belive everything you read. Things will and can change over night. Remember fresh goods are alway's In demand. And size alway's dictates a higher price.

dont want to crash your eternal optimisim party, but why would that magazine and others print doom and gloom if it was not true, usually the reports are cherry topped to get trappers out, so if saying to stay home, it must be much worse than the report even says, if you guys want to gamble, go ahead, Im gonna gamble with beaver and rats this year, but no way on these dink ass coon i got.....w

Winston just remember this. Those reports are months old by time they get printed In the TPC. I will have to wait till the 1st week In Nov to find out what's gong on with coon prices. But Gruney said he was starting out about like he ended up last year and If I remember right that means about a $10.00 average. The coon are looking pretty good right now. Ya there are some rags but for the most part they look good. I have been playing this game for a long time and I feel I will do Ok. With the predicted short harvest on FREASH goods you never know what will happen. My buyer Is sold out,he has his own markets and anything he might have held back form last year was bought on speculation which means he got It for dam near nothing. Time will tell. And as you know I have a very nice carcass market so I plan on averaging $14.00 for every coon I skin. I'm envolved In a CWD study and they are paying $8.00 on skunks and $5.00 on grinners and I don't have to do a thing but take them out of the traps. So all my gas Is paid for. I have shortned up my lines and I'm doing saturation trapping and then moving It seems to be working.

well, good luck beav. the way I see it you are looking for a 10 buck average on 20 plus lb. coons, really no bertter than the 4 dollar averages the rest of the world gets for 8-12 lb. coons. but what the heck, do your thing as we may all be dead next year and probably no coon trapping either in heaven or where we are all going anyway.
