A fox should set off a trap reliably at 2.5 pounds but I don't know aobut 4. For coyotes they should be OK out of the box.

I don't think I would recommend the fully modified for fox. They are pure cooyte trap

If you keep setting those things on your knees you won't be walking for long, them center swivel "D"s are a bi@#%. Rather, set them on the head of your hammer They are for sure not a fox trap, but I've caught and released many (well some) grays with them (monty #3s and #3 Bridgers)...the lamination really makes them easy on the feet and legs. The only problems I have is when the little buggers get tangled in the chain...bad things happen. Chris M should be ask to give instructions on filing trigger to adjust tension...its not hard but I just haven't done enough to be able to teach (maybe if Chris gave a lesson I could figure out what i did right LOL). While he's at it his opinion on proper tension with screen covers would be good info. I've been using 2.5 too 3 lbs and find myself leaning more and more to the 2.5 lbs since I went 100% to screen covers on my big Iron.

Since Gerald and his shop does the laminations there- I would imagine you could get inside laminations- I will find out.

They will have to be two part lams for cost efficiency, otherwise the tooling cost would be pretty high.

Is it just me, or do the lams look a bit oversized?

Talked to Gerald- and he told me the answers to a couple of your questions.
1) the 4 coil springs are the same ones they sell and use for the Bridgers. JC is planning on making a Taos spring kit for these- Don't know progress on that.
2) Inside laminations rathr than outside laminations with be available a little later- once they get caught up.
Price will be the same as the outside laminated traps.
