I was sorting through some equipment after supper and I caught two fingers in a 120 mag. Being that it's Mother's Day and my boy was in the yard I didn't yell anything that could have jeaporized my status in the local Holy Name Society. I did get a little testy when my son slowly drippled the ball my way as I was telling him to get the body grip pliers.
This got me to thinking. If I was alone how would I have gotten out? With one hand it's difficult to squeeze the spring and put on the safety. The eye loops are kind of small for a rope. The pliers are usually with the big BG's.
Any ideas?

I've ben giving serious thought to getting one of those plastic wedges they use when cutting down trees and milling some notches on one or perhaps both sides. Something I could drive or push between the jaws .

Just place it on solid ground and depress the springs with your feet. I got my hand out of a 220 mag. like that one time.

I thought about stepping on the springs but when you do the jaws are still clamped shut due to the springs being on the jaw frame. Those little mags squeeze tight. walker: thank you for you kind offer! I think I'll decline since my son must go to school and wouldn't be around to help me out.

Last fall got caught in a BMI mag 220 all 8 knuckles. I somehow got my left hand out fine, but in a frantic move jerked my right hand out breaking my middle knuckle didnt even realize I did it untill much later. Now I carry my saftey grippers allways.

I hear that it's even more fun in the dark and while standing in water...

Hope I'm not repeating myself here but....a number of years ago I got my thumbs caught in a VICTOR 120...it was super cold And I started sweating trying to get my hands free. I couldn't set the gripper with my four fingers ...I tried kneeling on the springs. I finally got down on my knees and managed to push a single spring against a beaver chewed stick and managed to free one hand at a time. I was frozen and had a long walk to the truck.....makes you wonder what if?
