I've been ogling those cargo trailers with the big swinging rear doors and an RV type door up front. One of those seems like a bloody good idea for my long haul hunting and trapping trips. Kinda like one of these, 7'Wx16'L Partition off a part of the front as a living quarters and the rear can easily carry a quadrunner, a couple chest freezers and plenty of gear or hang pelts. Anybody done one like this ? Seems like a hell of a good rig for hunting/trapping here in the West.

Yes I know a guy who uses a setup just like that for hunting. He has a generator mounted w/ large fuel tank for running freezers. I see Menards is carrying the 16' tandom axle ones now, about $4400 I believe is what price tag said. I was trying to find one used last year for running conventions but they are hard to find used. I ended up buying a used livestock trailer instead.

Oh man how much $$$ to pull that critter loaded up? ? What kind of gas mileage you get with the stock trlr? rk i was fellow that bought coni kits from you just as you were packing up at Wi fall rondy...

I have a small 8x5 enclosed trailer. I pull it with my toyota ,Two problems i've encountered are being able to stop (no trailer brakes) and tire 's wearing unevenly . When I go to conventions I sleep in it .If I ever buy another one it will have trailer brakes ,a side door ,and a ramp door in the rear..Just my thoughts.

I've got a 14' that I trap with when I'm not drag racing with it. TOOOOOO small to put a 4wheeler/fur/AND sleep in. 1st toooo narrow to put the wheeler AND fur in the back...AND the doors close from the outside...could be a "problem".. later lynx

;D You've got quite the "perverse" way of looking at things....admirable trait... I've got a turbo/Nos street legal kawasaki that I'm GOING to run a 7 second quarter mile on this year....been 8.36 @ 167mph a couple years ago....just need to fine tune my nuts on the gas cap technique... later lynx

ah don't know but I've been told.....little rice burners ain't got no soul..........
FWS- saw some very nice rigs made with that setup at Sturgis. Best ones had hammock bunk up front then just roll out of way during day.
I think you could make very nice rig and as crappy mileage as a full size truck gets- it doesn't get any much worse pulling.....

18 foot tandem axle flatbed with sides and cage rig to haul 96 live coyote or 350 live reds and freezers. 3/4 4 by 4 diesel gets 16 running free and 10 dragging the rig, but never skips a beat, 75mph up hill or down. NEVER take a single axle trailor on the open road, will kill you or someone else sooner or later. This trailor has 57 round trips to wyoming in 17 years and 15 round trips to ks in last 8 yerars. 4 sets of tires and rebuilt the springs and etc and re-wired last summer. Still going strong. Oh man, could I tell some over the road horror stories, but by yimminy I`m still alive and still doing it and so is the trailor.

136,000 and no break downs yet ! But the problem is the truck wasn't ment to haul 3 ton of trappin supplies. Sometimes I've even gotta shift on them long hills. i have been known to warp a rotor or two thou. Talk about soul takes a licking and keeps on ticking! I might just get something bigger to run conventions with. But I'll keep my toyota for trappin.

I've always been a do-it myselfer and I enjoy building my own "custom" equipment. Imagine the joy of catching bobcats and gray fox in cage traps of your own design and manufacture using your own super secret, ultra bad ass high tech visual attractants. So I think I'm gonna begin the "The Trailer Project" this spring, but I ain't buying one when I can build my own the way I want it. It's gonna look better than this anyways, I hope.

I have a 16 ft gooseneck stock trailer that I purchased used about 2 years ago. Sides were enclosed up about 3 ft and the former owner closed all but about 4 inches around the top with plywood. Pull with a 4 x4 diesel truck. Plenty of room in gooseneck area for supplies. Traps go in buckets in front of trailer, catch gets hung from the sides. The best part is no ramps required as the 4 wheeler will load into trailer without ramps.
Just park at the location, open the door, drive out and then upon return drive back in and on to the next stop. I don't have to unload anything but my catch as I leave everything else in trailer.
First year I have used it and it works great.

great looking house on wheels there are dozens of options for your trapping trailer just decide how you want it to be uesd I like the sleeping arangements, you could still divide off a section and put latches on inside of doors to close at night good luck with your build

knew an alke, lovable guy, not a trapper, that lived on the blm in wyoming in a standard 16 foot horse trailor. He walled off the front 8 feet or so, installed a pot belly stove and a mattress and drank a 5th a day. went to town for 7 more fifths every monday, and smokes. Great cook and harmless guy. Just wanted to drink his life away on a gov`t disability ck. that kept him going. Ate dinner with him often and very nice guy except the booze. Was a war vet and just never got over it.
