The crocus in my wife's flower beds are up. Some grass greening, but we have two more months of frosts at night. Snow is melting earlier this year, with most gone here in the valley. A mile up the canyon this evening, I found the road still snowed in.

My daffodils are blooming as are the hyacinths and my crocuses are done as well. Short crocus season for me. Planted my potatoes today along with some rhubarb and onion plants. Tomorrow I will plant some blueberries, lettuce, radish, carrots and some cauliflower and broccoli from seed. Raspberries just starting to bud so strung the training ropes yesterday. Finally got all the sap buckets, cover, tubes and taps collected and cleaned!! We collected over 8,300 gallons of usable sap this spring. We average over 20 gallons of sap per tree this year which is the best we ever had over the last 7 years.

We had 4 big runs with the first one February 28th and 29th. We only had half of our taps out then. We had our last good run April 7-9. We do it all with plastic buckets on the ground. Our biggest collection day was 1,016 gallons!!! We had about 1,000 gallons of sap we had to dump when we had warm runs and at night it stayed warm and the sap really got stinky in just over a day so dump and scrub the buckets and start over.
