10-7 MIzzou at half good game so far closer than I thought seems like Dave steckle has the D playing better in the 2nd quarter. Will come down to who makes the bigger plays in the 2nd half.
Go ZOO!!!!!!!

Mizzou 338 rush yards Minnesota less than 100 yards so far, Dave steckle forced you to throw the ball. Not your game! You play into our D trying that. Mauk is a warrior not so aure he don't have a concussion and knocks out one of your guys on the TD. ? Mizzou left 17 points out there the take down was not needed for Murphy to get the TD. Murphy had a 157 yards on 12 carries! Our O line just wore down your defense! SEC just better overall. I will watch Alabama dismantle Ohio state. Good tough game though, congrats to gophers for competing well.

M I Z Z O U !!!!!!!!'!!!!!!!!' Time of possession very close, rushing not close more passing for gophers but most of those yards ended up in turnovers or punts so no real damage, Mizzou D took down your 175 per game rush avg to barely 100 yards, Big plays tells the tale of the tape on this one. Mizzou made more bigger plays. Mizzou with a 7.5 yrd avg rush per play. That was big . Team Stat Comparison MIZZ MINN 1st Downs 18 19 3rd down efficiencythe 4-13 5-13 4th down efficiency 1-2 0-1 Total Yards 434 373 Passing 97 267 Comp-Att 12-19 22-33 Yards per pass 5.1 8.1 Rushing 337 106 Rushing Attempts 45 33 Yards per rush 7.5 3.2 Penalties 2-15 6-45 Turnovers 2 3 Fumbles lost 0 3 Interceptions thrown 2 0 Possession 30:05 29:55

You want to eat those words all at once, or should I feed them to you one by one? lol

Non SEC teams have held up well when considering all they hype and media before the bowl season about how poorly most opponents would fair against the SEC teams. Big 10 was not rated too well this preseason but several teams have done well the last week. All those that harpooned Ohio State for jumping over TCU and Baylor may well have really underrated the Ohio State team this season. Sure will be fun to watch Oregon and Ohio State. Could be 1200 yards of offense even with a couple decent defenses. The northern colleges will see some bump in their recruiting after this bowl season.

Bryce I think the Oregon ducks will dismantle the ohio state defense, bama scored over 30 on them with a run predominant offense what the ducks run is high tempo and very well schemed offense, it will be close for the first half then that offense will take advantage of the D of Ohio state. They are used to slower play and running in the big ten, Oregon brings such a multifaceted offense after watching them I do not feel any team can stay with them for 60 minutes. Turnovers for the ducks will be key, less than 2 and they win going away.

I won't make any projections as we don't know many factors that cause teams to play above or below their potential. Oregon will have to adjust to a very strong and large offensive line that even the strong defensive line of Alabama could not handle.

Alabama scored over 30 pts against ohio states defense and their offense is nothing like Oregon's. I bet the ducks put up 46 pts on Ohio state. Plus the ducks defense has a speed edge over Alabama for sure.

With teams with as much offensive potential as both of these teams have it may well come down to special teams and plain being able to play lose and hard. With Oregon the pre-game choice by most that helps to loosen up Ohio State as they have little to lose in this game. They already got the naysayers off their back by beating the number one team in the nation. If Ohio State is close by that I mean within 10 points by midway through the 3rd period they have a very good chance. If you can keep a defense out on the field a lot they will tire and tackle poorly. Running off tackle and up the middle can negate much of the speed advantage.

In a playoff format they all have everything to loose in a game Bryce that is what the gophers thought they would do against Missouri the problem was Dave Steckle Mizzou defense coach made sure to shut down their run game and make them one dimensional and that dimension for now is not what the gophers are good at or score many points with. The ducks have so many formations and plays out of them, that it will be tough for Ohio state defense to read and react , the ducks have run this for a period of years even under chip Kelly and it works to am as lots of points, I feel the only thing to stop, the ducks is themselves. Like dropped balls, fumbles etc.

So you are saying that Ohio State is Minnesota? MN did well but they are not an Ohio State and if Oregon is like Missouri in speed and size they better be one whole lot better. The western division of the Big 10 was by far the weaker division and MN was 2nd in that division and that is why Missouri was playing them as they are on nearly comparable levels.

Bryce you think bowl games are looked at as the same level? OK........... Florida state got blown out by Oregon so where was the close choosing there?
We are talking college kids not seasoned pros.
We shall what happens next week. I just feel Oregon will be taking home the hardware by nights end.

Oregon may win but in non pro games such as this there are more intangibles at play then in the more veteran pro sports where taking large risks are not nearly as likely to happen. Oregon has been rated high all season. Ohio State I feel has been underrated for most of the season and we will see which team gels the best in an intense situation. Oregon has not had nearly as many close games and there can be different reactions to those stress factors. Some grow with stress some falter. We will see. Each team has the skill and physical capability to win it will most likely be influenced by other impact factors.

It is good to see that one's projection of offensive line and defensive line play could stall the Ducks and it did big time. Ohio State's defensive line and linebackers made the Duck's QB look like a pretty ordinary QB. He will be high draft choice but a performance like last night against what is similar to a pro defense may have cost him 10-30 million or so.

Pro style defense please . 333 yards passing and 132 rushing, turnovers and no points is what did in the ducks, plus their D line too small to stop a good run game, Ohio state O line too big and powerful. Made massive holes for their running backs, not to mention the ducks needed more 3-6 plays and punts from Ohio state to wear down their D never for much of that after half way they the 1 st quarter. Still kids playing ball and college games very tough to handicap and bet on.

Your original discussion about how bad Ohio State would be beaten by this super offense was really far from reality. Turnovers??? Ohio State survived 4 turnovers and still doubled them on points. So you run up and down the field for 300 yards if you can't score you don't have the horses to win. Ohio State had the ability and the common sense to sub their defensive line a lot early and down the stretch they were fresh and just overpowered the Oregon team. Oregon could not respond to the stress of not being in the driver's seat. Good teams can make you cautious. Meyer gave his team the go ahead on 4 4th down plays and they made everyone of them. When you tell your team you believe in them they respond and respond with emotion and empowerment.

Again talking college kids Bryce, so anything can happen more likely than pro sports for sure.
Ohio state wins because of a playoff system without it they do not make it to the big show. We will go to 8 teams before long and have more of the so called unexpected happen down the road.
Oregon had their chances they did not capitalize. Play head to head best out of 5 my money is on the ducks. yet again college kids but the offense the ducks have implemented works if implemented is the key. 3 rd down cone reigns killed them, be it Ohio states defense or their lack to make the conversions could be debated, the SEC has won how many championships in the last 20 years compared to the big ten? Not even close.
