My oldest son graduated HS due to our tornado the school north of us so nicely offered their PAC center to hold our graduation and it was a great time, my son ended up with 3 scholarships and honor society sash as well. he ended up 3 rd in his class. hard to swallow that I am getting older and he will be off to college come fall. Time sure does fly and my wide and I very proud of all of our children, next year a daughter will be graduating and then another the year after that!
It was a nice surprise to see all the kids turn around face the packed house and open their gowns to be wearing fresh made t shirts showing orrick strong in honor of our town that was hit last week with a tornado damaging 80 percent of the town and canceling school for the rest of the year and the seniors not being able to graduate from their own school.
4 Kansas City news stations came and covered the event and will have it on the news . Proud of my son and the small community which we call home.

Here is a photo of all the seniors posing for a picture they will all receive a copy of,in a hall way after the tornado blew the roof right off a large portion of the high school causing a lot of damage only 6 days prior to this photo.

They grow up fast and it's tough to see them go. But it's a good time when they come back. University boy is home for the summer right now. He sure livens up a house. His girlfiend is here a few days of each week also. We had a daughter and her boyfriend stop in as they traveled to the in-laws cottage which is further north. Again, a really nice time. We Facetimed with our grandson this morning as he sat on his first bike, which we had just bought for his birthday. Good times again.
Their growing up isn't bad. It's just different. The fact that your son is out of high school and off to college means that some adults did quite a few right things. I figure that you and your wife are the main adults involved with the success of your son. Congrats and enjoy it!

Looks like the boys were out numbered in that class :-) Congrats, the first one leaving always brings some mixed emotions. But colleges have lots of vacation time and before you know it it's summer and they're home again for awhile.
The last, in my case the second one, really leaves a void. But, you adjust, and pretty soon they are bringing their own families to visit.
I hope your town recovers quickly :-)
Cheers, Pam
