It is -30 C. here this morning and there is a healthy couple of feet of snow covering everything. Our empty nest is beginning to refill with the rest of the family arriving this morning.
The house smells of food and no one is going to starve as Wifey has been a cooking machine for the past couple of weeks.
I did my part in that we have a good beer assortment!
We have glowsticks, rubber balls for fireball hockey, finger moustaches, the backgammon board ready, the movie channel and sports channel temporary subsciptions, lots of gas for the ski-doos, as well as whatever else. I couldn't shovel off a rink as the river slushed. I'll check it out once all stabilizes.
We also have all the toys are ready to pull out. I see some serious grandchild spoiling about to occur. The 2 month old won't be out of someone's arms for more than a minute and the 2 year old will get sugar boosted and well exercised.
Yesterday, son-in-law and I went for a nice sled with 5 dogs each. No one in the bush. About 6 inches of snow on a firm base. Tracks were scarce except for some very fresh moose and wolf. Perfect wolf prints with none of the mornings snow in them.
The wolves had chased the moose out of the mountain and were following. Testing perhaps or maybe planning on something other than turkey for Christmas! they were about 2/3 km. from a pile of snares. Hopefully they'll swing back.
Have a great Christmas everyone.

Merry christmas to all from here as well. Quiet day for us, we had our AK kids here all last week and opened presents at our oldest daughter's last Friday night. So much fun to watch the grandkids, they get so excited about everything. We took the AK family to Chicago on Monday, and have time to relax and clean up this week. Going to see The Hobbitt, but probably not until tomorrow as this day seems to have slipped away. It's snowing but we're only getting an inch or two at a time lately. So much easier than getting it all at one time :-)
Cheers! Pam

Merry Christmas to all,
My birthday is the 21st of Dec and our youngest granddaughter's birthday is the 17th so we had a nice combo party this last Sunday. Christmas Eve I sang in our mixed choir and we had our candle light service. Today we spent the day with our two childrend their husbands and our 3 granddaughters and my wife's 91 year old mother. We do a brunch on Christmas Day and that allows our son and law and daughter in law to spend Christmas Eve with their family and Christmas Night as well. I am not fussy about when I spend time with our family. Lots of nice gifts. Not so much outdoor stuff this year as I am pretty well stocked up. We got a two-day hotel in downtown Madision for a May performance of the Magnificant 4 which is a story about Johnny Cash and others. Should be good, saw something on this a bit ago and commented to my wife and low and behold the kids come through.
It is about 15 year now at 9 PM which is nice. We have had about 11 inches since Sunday, sure makes the snowshoeing great.

Christmas is over , went to two Christmas eve svcs and Christmas svc on Christmas day! THree communions in two days.... first time ive done that.... Kids were doing their thing and will catch up with them in a less hectic day.... Used to be where we were running from house to house on holiday and getting exhausted. Now we gather at one place later if possible and enjoy each other. Besides Christmas is for remembering the real meaning of Christmas and not all the buying and media glitter. Everyone have a happy new year and a safe one.
