TC- some quick facts- St Louis sold 22,000 season tickets last year (2012) that means that in say 80 home games, 1.8 million of that 3.7 number, or about 50% were from season ticket holders.
now I'll grant you that season ticket holders are shared, but its stll a far cry from not mattering as you state.
Their 3 and 5 and 10 game packages are also big winners in sales
the average attendance last year was 41000- so half at each game, in the seats or not- was from seaosn ticket holders

"They've been playing it nude in Canada for decades, with nudist beach volleyball tournaments being held in the Eastern US as well."
I must have missed that. Between the cold and the flies it must be quite the show - or not!

There are more scheduled, even one in the snow. Here's the events schedule for the co-ed nude volleyball tournaments at the Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in Ontario. Weekend Play
From May to September, casual fun games are usually played (weather permitting) every Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
Everyone is welcome to join in!
Don't know how to play? That's OK, the volleyball aficionados will happily teach you.

Tman please post where you found out the season tickets holder sales for the cardinals I would like to see that as I have yet to be able to find it thanks.
The other half aren't meaning they are sold after the fact and many of those season tickets are purchased by ticket brokers who re sell them. They make more than they lose or wouldn't buy season tickets. The majority of the time the attendence is close at Busch stadium I have been there and saw the crowds on TV and I also know that the royals have half of the attendence the cards do for the majority of the season, one reason is a winner versus a constant loser and also the fact that the chiefs own KC and the royals are second fiddle by along shot. Once training camp opens the football news local is far more talked about than the royals even when they where still in the wild card hunt. The royals would love to have the year in and out attendence the cards have believe me. The largest crowds at Kauffman are you guessed it when the cards are in KC and half of better are cards fans and not royals fans. The ticket prices are premium priced and bring in far more revenue than a division opponent does.

actually, according to statistics, 2/3 of all season tickets across the league are bought by corporations.
the yankees btw, are revoking season tickets from those that do sell the seats to brokers

Football sells more corporate tickets than other sports because of the black out rules in the NFL it is the teams soliciting these sales to keep games on TV.
baseball and hockey have no attendence rules to be considered for black outs it is about market protection to a degree, where the NFL is blacked out by attendence as well as markets.
I have a hard time believing the Yankees caring who does what with tickets as long as they get their cash. Simple solution would be to check ID and name on tickets if they don't match they aren't any good. Most season tickets have the name of the person on them by the way.

TC: 2006 Details of the seating arrangement, referred to as the Ballpark Founders Program, are in the mail to the 19,000 Cardinals season ticket holders, Cardinals officials said. The program is designed to bring in $40 million to help the team build the $387.5 million ballpark south of Busch Stadium. 2012 The club long has maintained that ticket sales and the team’s payroll have a symbiotic relationship. Surpassing 3 million tickets sold each season is a stated target of the club. With almost 22,000 season-ticket holders in 2012, retention offers the Cardinals a head start to their goal. www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/cards-raise-ticket-prices-in-every-section/article_c3cc7e23-9a1d-5fe6-be8e-283adeca80d1.htmlCheers, Pam

Hum seeing how the stadium holds 46,000 having 22,000 season ticket holders is quite remarkable? That is upwards of what 47 percent of tickets sold are to season ticket holders? Either that number is skewed or the secondary market is big on season tickets. I can go on the cards website and fine tickets to most all of the games in any section I want? They must be spreading these season tickets out nicely all over the field because no one section I have ever checked was sold out?
47 percent season tickets would be the envy of any major sports team in the US, but the cardinals are a massive draw in the state no doubt. While the royals struggle to get 22.000 per game attendence..
Intersting info for sure. Thanks for that link.

We went on a tour of Busch Stadium last summer. Have you seen the private areas and party suites? Season ticket holders generally don't go to all the games and sit up in the clubhouse areas when they do come. Plus corportions buy up a big blocks of season tickets which may or may not be used. Even in a sell out game htere may be unfilled seats.
At Packer Games, around 90% of the 65,000 seats are season ticket holders :-)
Cheers, Pam
