What do you guys think about formula fed pups? I'm still shopping after the pup i was supposed to get didn't meet the standards I wanted.
This litters bitch got an infection at 2.5 weeks. the pups have been eating formula since. What about immunities resistance etc?
Thanks.

Vet told me the pups get some antibodies from mama while their nursing. I would think they may be alittle more susceptable if on formula for an extended period.

The litter is ten pups. They are now 7 weeks old and full of vigor. All the pups are within one pound of one another(11 pounds). Males and females are pretty well the same size - in fact the 2 smallest pups are male.

musher, from what I've read and heard, the immunities pups get, are recieved early- at 2.5 weeks, it should have no bearing, as the immunities are short lived.
I had a strain of beautifully running bitches, but they had a lack of milk problem, and I was forced to hand feed pups multiple times (I finally ended that breeding strain, because of the milk issue) and you could tell no difference in the ones hand fed.
a tip given to me once, was when a bitch has a milk shortage- leave the smaller/weaker pups to nurse, and hand feed the healthier ones- switching out every day.
