Honestly, I never warmed up to a Mini14. There is something unnerving about the ker-chunk-chunk of the action. Never known for accuracy. But, other than that; it does not compare favorably to a Chinese SKS, in my humble opinion.

The mini 14 isn't a bad gun, not the ones I have shot and accuracy out to 200 yrds is decent. Used price if in good condition 475- 500 or so. Depends on stock and if blued or stainless.

I found them advertised for a grand, no scope, blued, and walnut stock.
For what you pay and get down range you could be right lb. I have never shot a scoped SKS or open sights on a mini to make a fair comparison.

Before all the hype about semi auto rifles with larger capacity mags has come about you could buy them brand new for 739.00 at Bass Pro or Cabelas. No way I would pay a grand for one of these new or used. I can think of much mnore gun for a grand!!!!!!
A friend bought the SS barrel and walnut stock back in 89 brand new for 449.00.

I paid $80 bucks for my SKS about ten years ago and I wouldn't trade it straight across for a Mini14 even though it's a lot uglier.

What happened to the initial post on this subject? Did somebody delete it? I didn't start this thread.
