Sooze is planning on picking up a new stand alone computer unit tommorrow. It will have Windows 8 on it. I watched the geek demo it for her. This computer illiterate schmuck feels that he will be shite out of luck running this thing. Anybody looked into this new system much as of yet? Ellen says it will be alright.

Well, when I got a new computer I got used to Windows 7 reluctantly and eventually after some major cussin', ya jist hafta lern ta adapt.
It wasn't that long ago when I heard trappers swearin' they'd never have the dang things in their houses. Now look at them go. lol
A few more years and we'll probably all have some version of an I-Pad or I-Pod instead of a PC.
Cheers, Pam

I ran W8 as a BETA tester a while back and I liked it. It was user friendly after I got used to it, which only took a day or so. The only really big difference to me was the GUI (Graphical User Interface), which is how the OS looks and feels to the user visually. Lots of similarities to W7. I run W7 Ultimate 64 bit and I think I'll stick with it for another year or so. That will give Microsoft ample time to fix any bugs and include them in updates or service packs. If you ever have any questions about W8 just go to YouTube and search for your issue, plus there are EXCELLENT tutorials on how to use your new OS.

Not me, I'm a hardcore PC Gamer, my rig has not 1 but 4 GPU's and a new Intel Sandy Bridge 6 core processor with a bunch of goodies. That's why I work so uch OT, I have to pay for my tech addiction somehow.

Cheers, Pam I have to admit Pam that for the past year I have't spent 2-3 hours on our pc, it's all been on my IPad the wife said I needed to run a particular app for my trapping! Well she was right about me needing the app but this iPad is way toooooo additive! You sit down in your favorite chair and it's in your lap and away ya go! Toooooo easy! I still haven't bought a keyboard yet for it so I'll continue pecking-away at the screen's keyboard!

Eveyone I know that has an IPad loves them. My grandkids, ages 3 and 5 sure do. I read somewhere that WIN 8 was developed in part for all the new touch screen monitors. If this monitor ever dies, a touch screen and an upgrade to WIN8 might be fun to have. I'm not enthused about upgrading as I used to be when new versions of Windows came out.
