I am looking at buying a new light for night calling. I have used the 1 million candlepower 12 volt, rechargeables, etc. Any advice on a getting a new one. The light industry technology has came a ways in the last 5 years with the LED's, etc.
Thanks

I would forget the high powered lights. Get a very ordinary 50,000 CP 4" sealed beam spotlight and spray it with red DYKEM. El Bee

LB, Is that the candlepower you would recommend for open country calling? I have always used much higher power but kept the light high with the main center part of the beam up in the air and only using the lower half to see at least until ready to shoot.

Well, that's how you do it, basically. But, you can't shoot them out there a half a mile away. Unless you are driving and waving that flamethrower, I don't see the need for all that wattage? You do make stands?
No, really. It's nice to see what's way out there, but now we are talking about a nice flipper light, or a dual superposed light with the ability to toggle back and forth, as it suits you.

Yes, I make stands, sometimes out of the vehicle and sometimes a short distance away. I used to have a friend that had a light with a rheostat that he put on the cord to adjust the intensity as needed. Maybe I will try that route. My interest in the LED's is mostly due to the lower battery power needed. Thanks for your advice.
