I am thinking about buying a CZ 12 guage autoloader for my son. I have heard they are a good gun for the money.
Any comments are experiences with them?

The CZ's are OK, I have one I used pretty hard for waterfowl for a few seasons in saltwater, it held up with the exception of breaking an extractor. Which CZ sent me a new extractor free within a couple days.
But a Beretta 3901 is a much better shotgun and not much more expensive if you shop around, I bought one NIB for $535 on Gunbroker.com and I still see em' for around that on there.
They are a Beretta 390 with a rounded receiver and have one of the best gas systems made. Very soft shooter, will function my light handloads to heavy waterfowl loads without fail. It's Beretta's low $$ autoloader.

Thanks, I thought Beretta's were a lot more expensive. He may join a skeet shooting club, and most of our hunting is for dove and quail.

A 3901 will work great for that and waterfowl. It's a 3" gun, but there's really no need for 3 1/2".
I shoot a 3/4 oz handload of 9's for skeet, very low recoil but they function without fail in my Beretta.
3/4 oz yields 533 loads out of a 25lb bag of shot, with the cheapest wad, primer and minimal powder charge, long hull life. And great patterns for skeet.
Cuts the costs way down.

check out the CZ "mallard" over and under, very nice gun for the price range it falls in!!!!! Quick to point and weight is nice for under 600.00. Made in turkey and have really nice walnut on them.
I held a Benelli ultra light and all I can say is WOW!!! For an auto loader 12 ga that is one light gun, carbon fiber vent rib and beautiful wood. Is up there in price but the lightest auto loader I have ever held in my hands.

Try one of the new Beretta A400 Unico's, or the just released waterfowl version of it. That is the most well balanced soft shooting semi autos out there. And they'll function anything from light handloads to the heaviest 3.5".
The CZ O/U's are good functional guns but they all need trigger work.
Turkish walnut, which can have really nice figure. Even nicer when you strip off the factory urethane and refinish with a hand rubbed oil.
