I presume you are curving the safety latch so it has a camber force against the spring, so if the trap goes off axidently. The safety does not travel down to the frame and with force flips off.

Yep exactly. The 2001-5 was factory made like that. Can be done to all "X" traps with the exception of the Super X Belisle..LoL

They found a trapper dead frozen on top of the ice of lake couple years ago. He was checking his under ice beaver traps. Well... one or 2 hands/arms get caught in the water. Could not pull out. They found him on top frozen to death!!!
Last year... not with a trap but they found a trapper dead on his registered line under his trailer. He had a flat... tried to change the wheel and he was under it to replace it and they found him dead under it.
etc...etc...
be careful out there.... you never know.......
