Anybody ever tried that?
Is it worth the price?
Did you get harrassed by anti freaks?
Did you get calls from local trappers?
I am thinking about trying in a new section I'd like to expand into. Trying to assess the risks before I place the add.
Key words would be @
Trapper offering help to deal with problem furbearers (coon, beaver, coyote are the top 3 in my area)
free service during fall and winter
probably then list my phone and email - what do you guys think?

I've gotten lots of permission from ads like that. better bet in my opinion, rather than big newspapers- is put an ad or ads in the local shoppers and ag sections of the small town papers. Those little rags get read more than you might think- and more importantly, they get read by the type of people you want ot see them.. Go for it.

I second what Beav said. Sometimes you get more land then you can handle then the owners wonder why you were only there for a week. Beaver are the main selling point around here. I catch a few and move on. They think I'm not thorough enough.

Also a slight change in sentence structure. Should say:
Trapper offering to help.................
Sounds alittle more professional.

A newspaper means that everyone and anyone knows about you. Your target is for landowners/farmers to know about you. Co-op bulletin boards, chainsaw shops etc. might be a better venue.

A lot of the ground I trap is not owned by farmers. Rich people who live on lakes don't go to co-ops. Both are good ideas, I've had limited success with ads, but any permission is good. Last ad I placed, got a call from a guy with beavers. When he told me where he was-I figured out I already trapped north/south of him. Sowed up the last section of creek--where the beavers lived.

I did make an appearance at a landowners meeting once, had to decline areas too far, but still got some nice new ground.
Still some time to think this over.

I ran a ad like that last year in a small town newspaper near me. Never got a single response.

You might have a point there Stef. I ran it in the classified section under "special situations wanted".
How do you guys do yours?

if there is a farmers section- thats the spot.
In any case, you can ask them to group it with other ag ads.
