How many are going through and mapping new beaver lodges being built looking on the satalite images on Google earth.
I used it for marking new muskrat houses this spring and got co-ordinates on old houses, july data then oct data. Only problem was everything was frozen solid this spring.

The resolution is not good enough to do it in most of the places I trap. Here they are still using photos from 2003. Many of the ponds have water on the pictures, but are dry once you get there. I just get the GPS points of the ponds and go and check them out. If you have more smaller rivers/flowages it will show you where the water is backed up and the beaver lodges are easy to pick out.
If you have good resolution spring/fall pictures, youve got it made. Especially if you can even make out rat houses! No point to hop in the truck/boat and have to check much out.

I have the same problem. However, other similar systems have better resolution for my trapping area.
