Do you have more details. Are those prices averages or did you only have one of each where one price is indicated ? Marten $28 is very cheap unless you only had one damaged one.

Yes they are averages, the ones with different prices are averages for my different lots. As for the Marten they werent damaged it just seems like the going price for Marten around here. I imagine BC marten are a lot heavier?

Actually my trap line is in southern BC and our section of marten here are not heavy at all. We average around $50 in this low market and around $75 in better market conditions.
Our coastal are more woolly and not that nice at all. Maybe some of your marten in Maine have that wolly salt water effect also. It has been a long time since I handled Maine marten but if I recall they were not a bad section.
We will have to wait until after the February sale and see how marten do this year.

Very interesting. Most of my catch is within 10 miles of coast, but dont have wooly fur, maybe its a Pacific thing. These marten however were caught over 100 miles from Atlantic so I guess there shouldnt be any saltwater effect on them. Got another auction in March, well see what happens then. I got three male fisher this week and I plan on going back up north for more Marten before season close on 31st.

Most of the woly type marten I refer to come mostly from the Queen Charlottes, Vancouver Island, and right along the coast. Inland and on the upper slopes they are much better.
