I ordered a pair of these from JC and they have so far proven themselves to me in a good way! I have been setting out some fall maintance traps around some sheep producers who call for service and they are nice. Built in knee pads that are replaceable and also offer soem protection from cactus, burrs and other things. Light weight but seem durable, very nice on the knees and keep your pants drier and also dirt free. Less constricting than just knees pads by themselves.
Anyone else use these and your thoughts?

Just ordered a pair a while ago. They look good in the pics . Had a pair years ago till a dog got a hold of them a few years back and they became a chew toy before I knew they were missing. My old pair was all leather. Guess they had too much odor for Rover to pass up.

I like the light weight of the material and they seem like they will hold up for awhile. Having the belt clips is nice as well, will work good with waders too, belt or no belt as well.

I see cabelas is starting to carry a couple of different chaps like the J.C Conner ones. Some are a lot cheaper but seem like they would hold up good.

I like the knee pads built in. Talk of the town, ah plenty of are cowboy ranchers where them, in fact we have a store here in town that makes leather chaps and they sell that all over the world. Very nice quaility for sure. But leather and more exspensive.

Chaps also easier to get on and off for upland bird hunting and these new ones with built in knees pads good for trapping as well. They also make snake proof chaps which some wear for added protection in snake country. Many uses this is just another good use of the chap.

Leather chaps are good for riding horses but they suck when they get wet and you have to do any walking at all.
I've got some Filson chaps, they are good for riding the atv in mud but your asss still gets wet.
I took a pair of neoprene chest waders and cut the feet out one year figuring I had the ultimate water proof outfit. I sweat like apig under them, when I'd get back to the hotel my clothes were soaked and smelled like piss.

have worn a pair of batwing thick leather chaps that I had made for me for 30+ years-
dress them properly, and they are not going to get soaking wet- the top surface might get wet into the leather somewhat in long, extended downpours- but even thats rare.

Leather too heavy and not practicle for trapping IMO.

I'd agree on that............ whichi s why I use kneepads............. just pointing out that leather chaps, coats, etc should be and can be quite easily, waterproofed.
