Anyone got any good ways in handling them….i keep my in a bucket but it’s a pain reaching in to pull out a hand full. I’ve been using a lot here in the last few days and it’s a pain I used stick them in some foam insulation …..any one got any other ideas

to me easiest was always just pour a 10-15 out on the table
thats enough to get a good start on mink and fox, and still allows space between them to allow picking thme up without the pin pricks

Real men just stick their hand in the bucket and let them stick. I dump several out on a chair as I need them.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've seen people use and other talk about an electric powered staple gun. I wonder if there is one that you can regulate how deep it will drive a staple? I planned on looking into it. Does anybody have any experience with these matters?

furman, do you staple the fur tight to the board or do you angle the gun to "not sink tight" the staple to the board? I've used paslode brad nailers which had a pin that spun and you could control the depth the nail was shot in. You could sink it to below the wood surface or even with the head of the brad out of the wood surface. A nice function. What about the staplers?

Tip of the Week! Ready? Once you do this you will never go back...... Ready? Get a magnet!!!!! Serious.....throw the magnet in the bucket of pins.....grab it and lay it on the table. It grabs (dependent on size) 10-30 pins. Then it is easy to size up the one you want and not get pricked! Honest......it is that simple. Credit for that goes to furbuyer Jimmy Ward in NY......he showed it to me years ago. MZ

Use a piece of 1 inch blue styrofoam about 6 inches by 12 inches good for about 200 pins. You will never have to stick your fingers in a jar again. Jim

Ha ….Zagman came thro …I just put the magnet in the bucket and the pins stand on end when they stick to the magnet….a guy can pick them off with ease…I like it THANKS
Gibb….i did the Styrofoam thing … try what Zag states works nice
Brend 77 …the staplers I use have the power dial on them and I can set them so the staple don’t sink……I use a magnet to catch the used staple……I should have thought about using the magnet for the pins….PS brend don’t leave any staples in the hide you’ll piss Gibb off

Nothing like getting stabbed by a staple left in a hide when you are grading. Anybody who says they get them all out is dreaming. I have to admit I hate staples. Jim

yup....now the only the only thing that pricks me is the furbuyer!
Ironic, I guess, that a furbuyer showed me....
It was one of those: "Like, DUH...." moments.....
For some of you too, I reckon! LOL

One of the best things about trapping and skinning is that there is more than one way to skin a cat. The price will decide what works. What works for you works for you. Jim
