Well, I have been using 3"Federals, #4Buck with 41 pellets for quite a few years.
Just because they were available, I bought some 2 3/4" #4Buck. Remington. I think 29pellets? I had to shoot a Texas coyote three times with that stuff.
I think, if restricted because of the chamber, I'd consider larger pellet size. I loaded by mistake, some 00Buck, and other than breaking two legs, it put that coyote down right now.
But, I don't think 2 3/4 #4Buck is enough out at 40 yards?

get some dead coyote and see how that patterns in your 2 3/4" gun. It will work out to 40 yrds and yes more exspensive but will do the trick. Otherwise as stated 3" 4 buck due to more pellet count is good stuff that is what our guys use from the airplane and kncoks the snot out of them. When I call it is either 4buck or dead coyote in my 3". Happy with both. I see dead coyote now comes in 4 buck I have yet to find any to try as of yet though. The standard dead coyote is "T" sized and is .20 cal pellets I believe.

Good stuff, 39. I object to the price of dead coyote, especially since I can't see any difference in the 3" shells? But, that's with Tshot. If they now have #4Buck, I might be tempted?

Yes advertised on their website and mag ads but I have to to see it locally, but should be very good stuff, I know the price is higher and really 4 Buck is darn good but you get a little more range with that hevi shot with a good tube, I have the dead coyote tube and my best is 61 yrds and laid that coyote out good. I have used it on beaver as well and does a fine job on damage complaints on them. I limit my shotting with it though as I buy that from my own pocket!!!

Leonard, I never liked Rem shells. They just never shot good in my gun. At least in the #4 buck. I always shot Win. in the 2 3/4 and loved them. They had the same amount of powder as the 3 in. but usually had more velocity due to pushing the lighter load of shot. They patterned real well in my Red Label. Always had, and still do, a load of 3 inch Federal BB's in the top barrel and the 2 3/4 #4 buck in the bottom.
TC, What chokes are you using for the T shot? I have several boxes of the T in Dead Coyote, but have never patterned it yet, as I want to know a good choke size to use first.

I use the carlson dead coyote tube works well from my rem 11-87.
I would like to see winchester come out with a 3" 4 buck load but they don't offer it. Our aerial crew is using the rem 3" 4 buck as it is the easiest to find and they shoot it well from the plane, using bennelli shotguns. I would have to see what choke they are using with that round but there knocking em down with that load really well. Beats the steel shot we where using you just don't have near the runners with the 4 buck versus the steel shot BB or BBB steel really poor penetration due to lack of energy. Tried to get a deal on a major purchase of dead coyote but a deal isn't what it was, so way to cost prohibative at this point.

lb you are sure it is 4 buck? I see it listed on their site but I don't think they make it anymore? I looked all over and never see nothing but 00 and 000 buck listed anywhere? If you do have 4 buck do you have a source a guy can get the winchester from? I would like to get 8-10 boxes.
SRC I would get the T shot size as you get more pellet count.
